IV. Introduction to LiveText (Signature Assignment Assessment Tool)
A. Introduction
In 2007, Chaminade Education Division adopted an assessment technology tool called LiveText. Also at this time,
Education Division went under a substantial change in the conceptual framework of the programs. With this continual
improvement process, program outcomes for both Licensure and Non-Licensure programs were established and for many
of the core courses, Signature Assignment was assigned. For all of your courses, you will need to submit your signature
assignment in LiveText.
B. Getting Started
System Requirements:
1. A high speed Internet connection (DSL/Cable/T1) is highly recommended.
2. 56K Dial-Up Internet connection is a minimum requirement.
Supported Internet Browsers
1. Latest Firefox version. (Highly recommended browser). Click here to download the latest version or go to Resources.
2. Latest Internet Explorer version.
3. Latest Chrome version.
4. Latest Safari version.

Disable/ Enable Pop-ups for LiveText
Many functions of LiveText require the use of pop-up windows. Pop-up blocking software should be disabled in order to
access these functions. Pop-ups are only used in LiveText for necessary functions and do not include advertisements or
redirects to other sites.
In addition to disabling browser pop-blockers, there may be additional pop-up blockers installed that should also be
disabled. These blockers include the Google toolbar, Yahoo, Symantec, SBC, Comcast, AOL, EarthLink, or other ISP and third
party programs. Consult the vendor's documentation for help with those products. Additional help for browser pop-up
blocker issues is available in the browser's help guide.
PC- Firefox
1. Click the Tools menu.
2. Select Options...
3. Click the Content tab.
4. Click the Exceptions... button.
5. Enter livetext.com in the "Address of web site:" textbox.
6. Click the Allow button.
7. Click the Close button.
Mac - Firefox
1. Click the FireFox menu.
2. Select Preferences...
3. Click the Content tab.
4. Click the Exceptions... button.
5. Enter livetext.com in the "Address of web site:" textbox.
6. Click the Allow button.
7. Click the Close button.
8. Close the preferences window.
LiveText Key Codes
You can purchase the codes online through LiveText at the https://college.livetext.com/misk5/c1/activate link.
Register Your LiveText Account
1. Go to https://livetext.com in your web browser. You many want to bookmark this for easy access in the future.
2. In the customer service area on the right side of the LiveText homepage, click the Register Account link.
3. Complete the registration process by completing the required information. You will need to enter your unique key code.
4. Click the Next>> button to go to the next step.
5. Enter all required information on the Personal Information page.
6. When entering your name, use your official name on record at your institution. It is very important that you provide
your Chaminade student email address ([email protected]) and your chaminade ID number.
7. Click the Next>> button to go to the next step.
8. You will be prompted to create your username and password. When creating a username, the name will be compared
to all LiveText users. If you get a message stating "Username already taken," you will have to modify your username for it
to be accepted.
9. Click the Next>> button to go to the next step.
10. On the Confirmation page, you can edit your information by clicking on the Edit buttons in each section.
11. Select the Terms of Service checkbox.
12. Click the Confirm>> button to complete the registration process.
After successfully completing the registration process, LiveText will display the Account Activation Confirmation page. This
page will display your username and password. Your login information will also be sent to the email address provided
during account registration.

Log In
Once you have registered for your LiveText account, you can log in by doing the following:
1. Go to https://livetext.com in your web browser. You many want to bookmark this for easy access in the future.
2. Type in your Username and Password you created and click on Login.
C. LiveText Tutorials
Once you log into your LiveText account, basic tutorials are provided in LiveText. There are two ways to access the
tutorials:
1. In Dashboard view, you will see Student Video Tutorials on the left side of your screen. You will be able to view
tutorials on Basic Navigation, How to Start an Assignment, How to Submit an Assignment, and How to View Assignment
Submission Assessments.
2. Second way to view is to click on the Welcome to LiveText link on the right side of your screen. When you
click on this link, you will see a tutorial page For Students. Again, you will be able to view tutorials on Basic
Navigation, How to Start an Assignment, How to Submit an Assignment, and How to View Assignment Submission
Assessments.
3. For all the tutorials, you will need Adobe Flash Player. You will see link to download Adobe Flash Player in
your tutorial sections. In addition, for any technical support, you can contact LiveText by email
([email protected]) or call 1-866-548-3839.
4. The default academic term in LiveText is the current academic term but to access any previous academic term,
please follow the instruction below:

b. Choose the term from the pull-down menu and click on View Selected Term.
5. To submit your assignment, please follow the instruction below.
a. Please click on the Begin Assignment button in Dashboard.

b. Please click on Attach Files and choose the assignment you want to attach from your computer.
c. Please click on Attach Selected Files..
